Dealing with children who are being raised by people other than their biological parents. Children that have experienced the loss of a parent due to homicide, suicide or manslaughter and also children being raised in foster care. What they go through and react to these traumas in losing a parent. How do you explain what has happened to their parent? Perhaps you are dealing with a child that has been placed in your home and they are coming from a traumatic background. We will be discussing how each age group may react to these situations and what you can do to help them with their loss or their situation of being rejected, unwanted and left without their biological family.

Marla Facey (1966-Present) Born in Sedalia MO, to Elziah Cline Jr. and Charlotte Buckner, being placed in foster care in 1968 to a widow named Elva (deceased) who raised her to love and respect all of her family. Marla was faced with many challenges, obstacles and unforeseen trials in her life, but as she journey's through, she has always kept a undying love and relationship with God. She was moved from the small town of Sedalia and then placed in the country with the Mason family, where she would graduate high school in a small town called Harrisburg MO. She married her first husband and had a daughter and son, then went through a divorce and soon after married her second husband, a man quite a bit older than she. She then had her 3rd child, a girl, became a step parent to two almost grown children and one adult child, joined the Army. She has a heart for the children who are parentless, so she became a foster parent, trying to make sure she gives back to society in hopes to having a positive involvement to children who are in the struggle of life. Marla had several life changing experiences, experienced another divorce, but  while still in military, she married her 3rd husband, found herself at war in Iraq, and came back and suffered a life changing automobile accident that caused her to have to retire from the Army. She had her 4th child who was born with down syndrome. Marla didn't give up, finished college with a Bachelor's Degree, became an ordained Minister and continues to serve God, and her community.
