Destiny House is an organization that provides shelter, therapy, parenting skills, job search skills, and educational skills to young women between the ages of 16 and 25 who are victims of sexual, mental and physical abuse. Destiny House is needing funding for housing and the development of programs.
Category: ServicesI previously owned and operated a child daycare center for 10 years. During this time, I have met many young women who have asked for my help and guidance. I have also volunteered my services to helping teen moms in foster care who have been abused. I can relate to these women because I too was a teen mom, who has also endured some type of abuse. There are some who have experienced trauma and are coming out of foster care at the age of 18 and having to return back to the homes of the abusers. My goal is to provide housing, proper training, and become a support system to the young women of this community so they may become strong productive women in our society.
Our community has many young women who are suffering from some type of abuse and if we don’t get the funding necessary for these programs, we may lose them to drug addictions, alcohol addictions and possibly suicide. This will mean more children growing up in foster homes.
