Assist the District Director of Special Education
Liaison between students, staff, and parents
Established, implemented and evaluated departmental objectives aligned with district and building goals
Implemented an ongoing program of curriculum evaluation through classroom observations, staff meetings and utilization of student achievement data
Visit classrooms in a supportive supervisory role providing relevant feedback to staff and monitoring progress
Assisted departmental staff with daily instruction including lesson plan review, instructional unit planning, test item analysis as well as discipline concerns
Provide professional development to teachers, staff, parents and district
Analyze data to identify gap areas for staff and department goal setting
Provide staff development for department personnel and coordinate school wide professional development programs
Assist in the recruitment, screening, hiring, training and assigning of personnel
Prepare department budget and order, inventory, and distribute all instructional materials
Create and implement annual review, assessment, midterm and final schedules
Create and implement articulation schedule for incoming 7th graders.Prepare orientation for incoming special class students and parents
Implement and coordinate community service and school trips for our special class populations
Address concerns of departmental members, students and parents
Member of the child study team
Work with at-risk students in ISS
Attend SLO, APPR and Common core professional developments
Supervise a department of 15 teachers, 8 teaching assistants and numerous one-to-one aides.
Supervise all building special education programs; resource room, co-teaching, special class, life skills, alternate special education programs
Evaluate and implement lesson plans aligned with Common Core Standards across in content areas
