I am sixty three years old and a recovering addict. I have 12 years of sobriety. I have helped open several recovery centers and in 2020 I was given the opportunity to open one in stone county. I am a Stone County treatment court graduate.
I graduated in 2015. Since my graduation, I have been involved with many different recovery services. Today I am the owner and director of SCRC. March of this year, we opened the first Recovery housing in Stone County. There is currently 20 men's beds and 10 women's. We recently received DMH certification and NARR accreditation.
I have received several awards over the years which include Service to my community from the Chamber of Commerce of Tablerock Lake, Hometown Hero , Volunteer of the year, and a Proclamation from the Missouri House State of Representatives for Meritorious Acheivement. These awards are nice but I don't do what I do for the recognition. I do this job because people are dying and dead people don't recover. If my story or my listening can help just one it is all worth it. I LOVE my job and I'm good at my job.Yes there is pain and yes there is sorrow, but I wouldn't trade what I do.
I have 2 grand children that will never see me sick a needle in my arm, or see me high and that is a miracle in its self. I give all the glory to God because I have been saved by grace.
