About Me

Arkansas native, was born in 1985. I am a mother of three amazing daughters. Staying true to my lioness personality traits and cultural essence has always propelled me to be a warrior, work hard, and persevere through life’s challenges and crisis. I always had a big heart and I am naturally  gifted to service and care for others. After witnessing my mother’s younger sibling dying at age sixteen from terminal cancer, I felt called to care for others which led to a thriving career in healthcare. After high school I went to Pulaski Technical College where I exceled in my studies (making the Dean’s List) and socially by pledging Phi Theta Kappa Beta Zeta Omega Chapter. I earned a certificate of completion in Medical Transcription in May 2007 and later graduated from The University of Arkansas for Medical Science with an Associates of Applied Science in Health Information Technology in December 2014.   At the Arkansas Heart Hospital, I had the great privilege of working with cardiologist, Dr. Riberio for three years. She later had the opportunity to work with Dr. Kane, Dr. Nash and the Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgical Team before my traumatic medical experience and subsequent permanent disability.  One night during my first year of recovery, while watching television, I witnessed chest compression administered to woman who was experiencing a cardiac arrest. The scene was instantly triggering because of the my own experience. Visions of the distressful event sparked feelings of grief, anxiety, and depression. At my father’s recommendation, the author sought help from a psychiatrist and counselor to help me process the trauma. The therapy was life-altering and partly what I credits towards my current journey to recovery. My decision to seek help has inspired her to turn her trials into triumphs. My hope is that by sharing my story, "God Within the Lily," with others I can help others turn their life around as well.   I enjoy a good read filled with compassion, truth, and medical history. My favorite book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, was initially a reading assignment in college but became so much more! In addition to reading, I am  a fan of performance arts. I like to read poems and paint. I consider  herself diverse and adventurous, in my spare time, I love  exploring nature, traveling, and staying active in general. However, moments with my family are what I cherishes most.
