Mrs. Seeta S. J. Deochan-McClain

(Law Enforcement Officer)

About Me

I am the only woman in my family to enter the field of law enforcement. Single mother raised a son. I have been in law enforcement since 1995 beginning my career in the NYC Police Department as an administrative assistant to the Integrity Officer Lieutenant of Housing Police - PSA 2 located in Brownsville, Brooklyn. In additional to maintaining daily statistics for the command and reported directly to the Inspector of Brooklyn South.  I am presently a New York City Department of Correction Captain assigned as the confidant to the Office of the Bureau Chief of Security which is the second highest ranking uniform staff in the department. I work closely with the Director of the Office of Emergency Management for DOC, one of the supervisors assigned to the Special Search Team  and track the most violent inmates in the department.  I assist the facilities with maintaining proper security awareness, equipment and provide additional guidance with regards to facility searches.  I review pertinent investigations to ensure all documents provided are completed and the investigations are clear and concise while depicting accurate sequence of events and appropriate corrective measures, if warranted, initiated. I got married and obtained two additional children. I am a firm believer that "I cant" is not an option for me and my family.  You should always strive to be your best at whatever task that you decide to tackle.  Never let other's desires for you determine the road that you choose.  Take time to figure out what you want, what you are willing to compromise with and what makes you happy to do.  Keep God first and remain humble.  Know that each one of our success is as the result of others that paved the way for us.  The role of a leader is to effect positive change for the home, work and community.  Remain true to yourself and never be something you are not.  Be slow to speak, pay attention to your surroundings and slow to anger.  Remember there are always consequences to every action.  The question I pose to myself and others constantly is " What price are you willing to pay for what you believe in and love?"
