As a young child, Sarah was taught by her father how to read blueprints before she was out of elementary school. She was pretty much raised in a underground utilities (infrastructure) construction company and worked in the field as a land surveyor in her early 20’s. After injuring her knee in the field, which caused 3 surgeries, Sarah decided to stay in the office. While attending the architectural drafting course, she was self taught Revit. Once graduated, Sarah was asked by the instructor to come back to help the other students learn Revit as well. Sarah then trained herself in Civil 3D, mechanical and Carlson Survey. Her professional work differs from not only different types of projects but also different industries. She has worked in structural engineering drafting cut lists for fabrication of bridge spans and pressurized tanks; civil engineering drafting for construction stake-outs; survey drafting of plats, ALTA’s, mortgage and wetlands. While she is diverse in different forms of drafting, she tends to lean towards Survey CAD drafting most likely due to her background in the construction and survey field. If you were to ask her what her favorite or most memorable achievement was, she would tell you about the shop drawings for fabrication of the emulation chamber of the Atlas V Rocket.
