Ms. Rosalyn C. Charles

(Lawyer)

About Me

It seems like I’ve been practicing law forever. Since my admission to the bar some 25 years ago, I must say, it’s been quite the journey. The law can be a wonderful thing. In its ideal, the law attempts to guide society through some of its greatest ups and downs. Over the span of my legal career, I have practiced family, real estate, criminal defense & prosecution, and wills and estate. Now my work primarily focuses on family matters. Like you, I consider family to be “the inner sanctum.” When real trouble arises within that sanctum – the area of your life in which you seek the most security – it’s time to seek help from others. Sometimes that help comes from your faith or your friends; at other times, you require assistance from a professional. In the face of difficult legal challenges – such as divorce, separation, child support and educational expenses, spousal support, asset division or retention, child custody and parenting time, or domestic violence – I seek not only to understand the dynamic of your circumstances, but also to draw upon my many years of life and professional experience as a Newark family lawyer to resolve the matter in manner that serves you well. I’ve walked many paths since graduating from Spelman College and Seton Hall University School of Law. From my clerkship with a criminal and family court judge to a 10-year stint as an Assistant Prosecutor trying over 75 jury trials to 4 years solving problems as a municipal court judge, I’ve always tried to keep in mind the human stories that motivate the experience. I have learned so much from the many families and individuals who have permitted me to assist them through the ups and downs of their lives.
