Dr. Robin K. Walker

About Me

Dr. Walker has been a science scholar since High School. She won the Science Award for top grades in her high school, Brooklyn College Academy. She continued to pursue the sciences in college by becoming a Pre-Med major. However, during her time in undergraduate studies she had an opportunity to participate in an undergraduate summer research experience. After being exposed to research she immediately changed her path to the road of PhD. In 2004, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. In 2006, Dr. Walker matriculated into the University of Connecticut where she focused on plant genetics, plant breeding, and plant molecular biology under the mentorship of Dr. Gerald Berkowitz. After 5 years, she graduated with 2 publications and ready to continue her research journey as she pursued a postdoctoral position. Dr. Walker landed a postdoctoral position at the prestigious Howard University Hospital in the Cardiovascular Division were she studied under Dr. Georges Haddad for two years. After completing her postdoctoral training she obtained two positions as an Adjunct Asst. Professor at CUNY-Medgar Evers College and St. Francis College. Dr. Walker currently works for the Department of Defense, Medical Research and Development Command. There she is a Program Manager on the S&T side of the house where she works closely with Army lab collaborators and fellow acquisitions colleagues to develop potential fielded products to assist the warfighter on the battlefield.
