I am a single mother of 4 amazing humans. My oldest is 20 and the most beautiful, strongest transgender woman in the world. My 18 year old son has autism and inspires me daily. My 15 year son is funny, caring and willing to help anyone in need. A true friend. My 13 year old son wears his heart on his sleeve. He is so thoughtful and loving. I lost my hero, my father 9 years ago to pancreatic cancer. Watching his decline will be a part of me forever. But I strive everyday to still make him proud. My mother is a woman of strength that she has no clue she possesses. What she has overcome proves to me that nothing but ourselves can stop us from anything. I sing and write music. That is my peace. It calms my soul and lightens the weight of the world for me. I completed my Bachelor's in criminal justice when I was pregnant with my fourth child. Yet found my place in the salon. I was working as a manager in a salon, with no desire to be behind the chair when a lady walked in completely distraught. Her husband said he wanted a divorce that morning, on her way to work her car broke down, she was fired from her job...literally the worst day possible. But after her hair appointment, she was laughing and smiling. I wanted to be a part of that. Changing the worst day into one more manageable. So I apprenticed in that salon and have been doing hair ever since. It has been so fulfilling in so many ways. Meeting amazing people, listening to their stories, crying and laughing along with them. It's so beautiful.
