Coach + Speaker + Washington State Legislator + Entrepreneur + Graphic Designer + Percussionist: Melanie served as the youngest legislator in the Washington State House of Representatives for two-terms. In 2014, at the age of 24, Melanie made history when she became the youngest female elected to the State House since 1936. She served on the Transportation and Higher Education Committees and was a strong voice for transparent government. Melanie graduated from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, and in 2012 joined her sister and mom in starting their business, You Impression. You Impression helps individuals and organizations achieve their goals, through personalized coaching, group workshops, and keynote speaking. Over the past 7 years, Melanie and her team have been identified as "game changers" - helping executives, entrepreneurs, businesses, and non-profits elevate their leadership and staff as well as improve their productivity and profitability. Melanie is passionate about giving back to her community. She has served on the Communities In Schools of Puyallup Board of Directors for over 7 years, working with the national non-profit focused on drop-out prevention. Melanie also serves on the Daffodil Scholarship Foundation Board, providing educational scholarships for Daffodil Princesses in Pierce County. Melanie is a self-taught graphic designer and avid percussionist who enjoys playing four-mallet classical pieces on the marimba. For fun, Melanie likes to watch animated movies, eat froyo, and support her UW Husky football team (go Dawgs!).
