Ms. Mary E. Snell

(Nonprofit)

About Me

Mary Snell is the dedicated and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of New Leaf Organization, where she brings over 20 years of experience in launching five successful dropout prevention credit recovery charter schools. With a steadfast commitment to academic excellence and student success, Mary has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s vision and strategic direction. Her vast experience ranges from educator, home visit officer, and EMIS coordinator (management of the student information system) to enrollment and making a significant contribution to the initial design of the computer program used to capture data.

Mary designed a 21st-century learning facility that meets at-risk students' academic and, more importantly, social and emotional needs. Her innovative approach to education has improved student outcomes, making New Leaf a beacon of achievement across the State. Precisely, the five schools she co-founded have graduated many disenfranchised students who struggled in the traditional school setting. Between the five schools, more than 5,500 students have earned their high school diplomas. Many have gone on to college, even though meeting the goal of achieving a high school diploma was bleak upon enrollment into the charter school system. This feat is particularly noteworthy as it is difficult for many charter schools to obtain and even more incredible to achieve when serving at-risk students.

While Ms. Snell did not have a background in education, her invaluable real-world experiences enabled her to operate successfully within the education environment. Her passion for fostering a positive culture has earned her recognition as a forward-thinking leader dedicated to the holistic development of students. Her passion and mission have never wavered from providing disenfranchised students with an opportunity to receive a high school diploma and expand on the possibilities for their future. Under Mary's leadership, New Leaf has achieved an exemplary designation in Ohio and is distinguished for operating a fiscally responsible organization. Her ability to inspire and motivate staff and students has created a supportive and challenging learning environment.
