I have a broad background in the pharmaceuticalsciences with specific expertise in membrane transporters, utilizing molecularbiology techniques, tissue and cell culture studies and in vivo animal studies.My research interests have focused on the influence of membrane transport onthe pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs and dietary components, anddrug transporters as therapeutic targets. As such, we have focused on a number of transportersincluding members of the SLC and ABC families. Recently, my laboratory hasfocused on transport by the endocytic proteins megalin and cubilin,that are crucial in the reabsorption of endogenous and exogenous peptides andproteins in the kidney.
