As a recently retired executive professional from the U.S. Government with 34 years of experience, I have proven innovative and knowledgeable skills and training in public health and behavioral health related issues. Within the 34 years, I provided program management experience nationally, in civil rights laws and discrimination, housing (homelessness), veteran affairs and job training. On a national and global level, I designed community health prevention and promotions specifically for women and youth. Moreover, I have designed and presented HIV/AIDS and substance abuse prevention programs to college students attending historically black college and universities throughout the U.S. Throughout the driven and focused career years, I also conducted research and was a health policy expert on issues related to healthy lifestyle living for the elderly and baby boomers, health disparities, cultural competence and health literacy information and training with professional coaching and management support have been provided to organizations, CBOs, educational institutions and faith-based organizations have improved the integration of health and human services for populations with complex service needs. My journey began when I chose to study sociology and psychology in college and started to work in a community organization as a Social Worker. I then moved into the Department of Health Education and Welfare (which later became HHS, the Department of Health and Human Services). I was a Child Research Analyst, while studying for my Ph.D. in Sociology. Following a car accident, I returned to working in the Federal government, local government and the private sector. I later returned to HHS, in a senior position. My focus was always on family first, but I continued to assist others in need while conducting research, working with policy development, training, mentoring and working with the White House Special Programs on youth and the aging population.
