Dr. Laurie Bernadette Midgette is an experienced leader, educator and researcher, and has implemented many innovations in public and private school settings. She loves teaching and learning. Dr. Midgette has over a decade of expertise in inquiry-based, global education that fosters student creativity, agency and real-world application. She also facilitates workshops for educators and school leaders, equipping them with innovative strategies like design thinking to create impactful learning experiences and drive sustainable educational transformation. Dr. Laurie Midgette is an experienced educational consultant, professional development leader and motivational trainer. She collaborates with schools globally to enhance educational practices. Additionally, Dr. Laurie Bernadette Midgette proudly served in the Army National Guard Reserves, dedicating three years to the 242nd Signal Battalion based in Hempstead, Long Island. During this time, she honed her skills as a Tactical Telecommunications Center Operator, where she played a crucial role in ensuring effective communication and command operations. Dr. Midgette underwent rigorous training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. This training equipped her with the expertise necessary to manage complex telecommunications systems in challenging environments. Her commitment to excellence and adaptability in high-pressure situations were vital to the success of her unit.

Dr. Laurie Bernadette Midgette currently serves as the founding principal of Cultural Arts Academy Charter School, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York. Her school now has three global designations and was recently named “The Most Admired International School in North America” by K-12 Digest. Dr. Midgette has received numerous awards for her service as an educator including two Congressional citations, Brooklyn Borough Proclamations, the Samuel A. Peabody Award, and the NYC Teacher of the Year award.
