I am the founder and President of the Craig D. Butler Scholarship Foundation, a Black woman-owned nonprofit organization offering annual merit-based scholarships to African American high school seniors in the Philadelphia area. This foundation was established in memory of my father Craig, who was murdered by a black teenager over 20 years ago. I work tirelessly as a project data manager for a medical devices organization by day and still manage to have the fortitude to give back to my community in honor of my father. I have made it her mission to narrow the economic hurdles of black inner-city youth by promoting the pursuit of higher education.
