(Therapist)

About Me

I spent my years growing up with several siblings and a large extended family living a rural country life in the north west. I love the outdoors and animals, yet had to learn all domestic chores and ways of survival for rural life. I enjoy sports, horses, camping, travel, art, writing, school but most of all, my children and grand children. I have five children almost nine grandchildren, have been divorced, and am currently a single widow. I love life and have a positive peaceful outlook. I received a B.S. in psychology and B.S. in Social Sciences from Portland State University in 1985, a B.A. in History and a Secondary Education Teaching License from Metropolitan State University in 1995, a M.A. in Community Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family from University of Northern Colorado in 2003, and I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis in Industrial and organizational psychology at North Central University. I am trained in many techniques, but use a cognitive approach most often. I also use EMDR, structural, and emotional therapy's as well when needed. I have received crisis training, I've been trained as a Child and Family Investigator and have testified as an expert in court many times. I am a Clinically Certified Juvenile Treatment Specialist, I have served as a Rape Victim Advocate, a Domestic Victim Advocate, and have worked in battered woman's shelters, as well as adolescent treatment facilities and emancipation houses. My work has taken me to a broad number of experiences and places of which I have grown and learn through them all. My greatest joy however has been the last seventeen years of private practice. I am an open therapist who is very direct and honest with her clients. I work with individuals, couples and families of all ages. I work with all disorders, depressions, anxieties, addictions, sexual orientations, divorces, family issues, child parent issues, teen issues, behavioral issues. I live in the foot hills and practice out of the libraries study rooms in Parker, Castle Rock, and Lone Tree at this time and have been doing so for the last three years. It has worked for me.
