About Me

Jennifer Velarde was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She immigrated after graduation from high school. She worked two jobs to pay her school tuition since she did not qualify for financial aid due to her immigration status. Jennifer accomplished her dream of being the first in her family with a college degree. She graduated with a bachelor’s in criminal justice and a minor in political science from Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. Jennifer graduated from UMASS School of Law located in Dartmouth, Massachusetts in 2012. Jennifer served as an AmeriCorps member for South Coastal Legal Services and MIRA (Massachusetts Immigrant Refugees Advocacy). In 2013, she started her own legal practice. She is currently the Firm Manager and Owner of the Law Office of Jennifer Velarde. Her firm focuses on immigration law, family law and estate planning. Jennifer has represented many asylum seekers before the Asylum Office and the Immigration Court. She is on the Board of North Attleboro Assembly of God, also known as Cross Road International Church, located in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and on the Board of the Immigrant Assistant Center located in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Jennifer has served as a volunteer informing minority groups of their legal rights for several organizations such as the Centro Communitario del Trabajador located in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
