About Me

  • I have worked in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for the past 15 years. My career started as a volunteer, driving the ambulance. This sparked by interest and I completed an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, which allowed me to then transition to a primary patient care provider, a role that I worked in for over 8 years. Being an EMT was a great experience, however I wanted to do more. EMTs are limited in the amount of medications and procedures they can perform on patients. This desire to do the most for my patients drove me to complete a Paramedic program. Paramedic programs are rigorous, in depth, clinically focused intensive programs that usually last a year or more. After becoming a Paramedic, I was able to offer much more to the patients I care so dearly about. I currently work at Monongalia EMS “Mon EMS” since 2019. Mon EMS is the primary provider of Emergency and Non-Emergency EMS services for Monongalia County, WV, covering over 366 square miles and a base population of over 105,000 people.

It was Mon EMS where I was able to grow so much as a person and a provider. Mon EMS has allowed me to become educated and trained in so many areas, but most recently encouraged me and helped me to follow my passion to gain my certification as a Mental Health Resilience Officer (MHRO).  Having the opportunity to work for an agency that values their employee's mental health is important, as making sure providers are in the right mental space to treat patients is paramount. Mon EMS is one of the few agencies in the state that allows its employees to use mental health days and has trained Mental Health Resilience Officers on staff. Mon EMS has allowed me the time to grow into my own and build my passions, for not only caring for my mental health but the mental health of those around me.
