Dr. Charla N. Burns is a physician, professor, and healthcare leader dedicated to advancing healthcare through clinical excellence, education, and service. With expertise spanning medical education, public health, and evidence-based medicine, she has devoted her career to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals while promoting high-quality patient care.
Dr. Burns earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University and A&M College and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She trained in internal medicine at Tulane Medical Center before transitioning into public health leadership and academic medicine.
She currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Behavioral Health Program at Cummings Graduate Institute and as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Prairie View A&M University School of Public and Allied Health. Her professional interests include scientific communication, healthcare policy, and clinical evaluation.
Beyond academia, Dr. Burns is committed to mentorship and community service, believing that education, leadership, and lifelong learning are essential to improving health outcomes and empowering future healthcare professionals.
