I have been working with construction based companies for over 6 years now- my first being an intern with a local metal stamping company. But, I have been surrounded by construction my entire life with my dad being a Mechanical Engineer for 26 years. I always thought I would go into a more “girly” businsss with my psychology degree but ended up becoming an executive admin assistant/HR generalist with one of the largest construction companies in the world.
My family and I have had the idea of creating our own consulting firm for years and until last October of 2023, it was just a dream not a reality.
I worked in the background creating the name, doing all of the legality work, creating marketing that appealed to the new generation of construction and learning VDC/BIM on the side all while holding down a full time job.
Until September of 2024, I was a background character into the growing company of Tier 3-D Consulting, LLC. but now, I am on the front lines and I have never been more satisfied.
Being a woman in a male dominated field has been hard at times of course, but having confidence in myself, confidence in my ability to stand up for myself and confidence in my ability to learn and grow constantly has shown these companies that I am here and I am staying here. It truly is a gratifying feeling being the minority in this sense and I want other women to feel the same which is why we made this company a Woman Owned Business- to show the world that women CAN and WILL show up and show out in a male dominated field.
