They say 'nice guys finish last' I think I understand this differently now. Maybe you can't really be a consistent winner until you have stood silently and alone being ridiculed for your ideas, your looks, and even watching your girlfriends mess around with the man you loved publicly. When you realize that you can't count on your family to stand behind you, or your friends, and that half of the people pretending to cheer you on are frienemies half hoping they get to see you fall. So maybe that's why 'nice guys finish last.' By the time you are good enough to succeed you have had to be reminded so many times that you had no right to even compete with the big dogs with all their diplomas, and pockets full of money, and resources, that your heart had to be put in a box next to the last drop of lightheartedness and innocence that you once had.
