Ms. Alexis Rodriguez-Alvich

(Publicist)

About Me

Founder of Harper Grey Consulting, Alexis Rodriguez Alvich has more than 17 years experience in public relations/communications and brand development within the beauty, lifestyle, and fashion industries combined. She brings with her an in-house-like connection to and passion for brands with an agency-like approach, having worked both in-house and at global and boutique agencies. Most notably, she has worked closely with the biggest names in beauty and fashion – Bobbi Brown and Diane von Furstenberg – heading up both of their communications departments. Most recently, Alexis spent the past seven years at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics as the Executive Director of Global Communications, overseeing the implementation and execution of PR initiatives in North America on behalf of Bobbi Brown, the woman and the brand. In close partnership with Creative, Global Marketing, and Sales, Alexis helped drive the “go to market” strategy for product launches and maintained Bobbi’s position as beauty authority. Having the foresight to recognize that the traditional PR landscape was changing, Alexis strategized and executed holistic communications programs for the brand – some of which were hailed as “best in class” within Estée Lauder Companies, Inc. – spreading the word about the key attributes of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics by utilizing PR, social media, digital media marketing, consumer engagement and e-commerce platforms. Prior to Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Alexis worked in-house at LVMH, Inc., overseeing PR in North America for Parfums Givenchy and Pucci Fragrances. For Givenchy, she spearheaded the largest men’s fragrance PR launch in the history of the brand, working directly with “Play” spokesperson Justin Timberlake and his team to secure the most press the brand has ever garnered at launch. Alexis brought to these fashion inspired brands her knowledge of the fashion industry, having dedicated five years to iconic designer Diane von Furstenberg as Director of Public Relations, overseeing global communications in 12 countries including the US, UK, Italy, France, Asia, and Russia. In this role, Alexis worked directly with the legendary designer as her personal publicist in addition to the brand publicist. She oversaw brand positioning in the press, managed product placement and VIP relations, handled press for licensee partnerships, coordinated market week visits with global press, directed backstage press in addition to hair and makeup teams for New York Fashion Week, and headed up global communications with international affiliates. Alexis started with DVF in 2003 as the in-house PR Manager to launch Diane von Furstenberg Beauty, the fashion designer’s return to the beauty arena, and was quickly promoted to oversee all press for the designer and her fashion house only two years later – a testament to her skill set and work ethic. Alexis began her career with DNA Public Relations, where she cultivated a love and passion for the beauty industry. Two years later, she joined a global brand team at Ketchum Public Relations, expanding her client base from beauty to consumer, lifestyle, food, and healthcare. Rodriguez left Ketchum in 2002 to join Tractenberg & Co. where she worked with a number of well-known beauty brands including Stila, Sephora, MD Skincare, and Kate Spade Beauty. Alexis has spent many years developing relationships with key beauty, fashion and lifestyle editors, makeup artists and stylists across print, digital, and now social media, as influencers have become increasingly important in helping drive brand awareness. Her ability to maintain strong working relationships in both industries has led to coverage for clients in every top media outlet and national broadcast show you can think of. That’s no exaggeration. In her free time, Alexis mentors aspiring PR professionals via her blog The PR Closet, and has been featured as a go to expert on breaking into the beauty and fashion industries. She speaks regularly at NYU and FIT about launching careers in beauty and fashion PR. Alexis lives in New York City with her husband, two children, and Cavapoo.
