I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago in the Greater Grand Crossing community, the only girl in a house full of boys. That upbringing shaped my resilience, independence, and quiet strength. Though I was often the “shy one,” I carried a voice that would one day move others through art and story.
As an adult, I discovered that I had been adopted as a baby, a truth that changed everything. That revelation began my journey of identity, forgiveness, and faith, and ultimately awakened my creative voice as a poet, filmmaker, and storyteller.
My artistic roots run deep. My late brother, gospel artist L’Andre Patterson, showed me that creativity is both a calling and a ministry. Later, I learned I’m related to jazz legend and flumpet co-creator Art Farmer, proof that artistry runs in my blood.
In 2023, my short film Frailties received an Award of Distinction from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, honoring its message about the fragility and faith of the human spirit. I hold advanced degrees in Entertainment Business and Business Administration and am the Founder and CEO of Cognitive Inspirations Productions & Publishing, a creative consulting and media company dedicated to purpose-driven storytelling.
In 2024, I launched The Rhymer’s Corner, a podcast blending poetry, rhythm, and reflection. The following year, I introduced Flowers with the Tea Bookclub, a space for sisterhood and soulful literary dialogue. My current project, an upcoming book titled Rise from the Chrysalis, is set to be released in 2027 and explores themes of transformation, identity, and divine renewal.
Through every chapter of my life, I continue to honor the power of identity, faith, and creativity—a woman who turned her search for belonging into a legacy of art and inspiration.
